On Behalf of | Aug 12, 2022 | Business & Commercial Law

You have an established company that started out small but is gaining momentum all the time. You want the operation to run like a well-oiled machine with as few hiccups as possible.

One of your top priorities is getting the most out of your employees and ensuring that they are content in their jobs. Employee complaints are going to happen from time to time. What’s important is that you try and reduce them and deal with them effectively when they do arise.

Outlined below are some of the more common employee complaints and strategies for reducing them.

Paying a fair wage

While you want to reduce your wage bill as much as possible, you must also attract the best possible talent and keep your workers happy. The state of Pennsylvania does have minimum wage laws, which are the least that your employees should be paid. However, you really want to consider what is a fair amount for the job description. Of course, this should be balanced in your budget, but paying low wages could cost you more in the long run.

Creating a secure working environment

Staff should be employed based on their abilities and relevant experience. Your hiring process must not single out anyone because of their religion, background or creed. As a modern corporation, you need to be as inclusive as possible and make reasonable accommodations for staff who need them. One of the most common employee complaints relates to hostile work environments. Cases like this can damage your reputation and cost you dearly in legal damages. Ensuring that you have inclusive policies and adequate procedures for dealing with grievances can help keep such instances to a minimum.

As your company continues to grow, it’s best to try and keep grievances to a minimum. Seeking some legal guidance can help you do this and address any issues that do come up.
